Driver social desirability scale: A Turkish adaptation and examination in the driving context

Self-report data collection methods are widely used techniques to gather information in studies related road safety. One of the most considerable limitations self-reports is social desirability bias. way overcome possible detrimental effects socially desirable responding control it by using scales. With respect that, present study aims adapt Driver Social Desirability Scale into Turkish, examine its construct validity, and investigate relationship between driving-related measures. A total 351 drivers ages 19 59 completed a questionnaire including demographic form, Behavior Questionnaire (DBQ), Skill Inventory (DSI), Two-Dimensional (SDS), (DSDS). Factor analysis supported two-factor structure DSDS Turkish sample. correlated positively with age driving experience. Female reported higher levels driver impression management, while male scored on self-deception. management was associated negatively violations perceptual-motor skills safety skills. Lastly, self-deception violations, positive behaviors, skills, The shows that version reliable structurally valid instrument incremental validity compared general measure predicting outcomes.
